Start with what matters to you.
Tingling, numbness or pain travelling into an arm or leg can have different causes. Our musculoskeletal assessments consider nerve-related concerns as well as joint, muscle and movement factors.
Common conditions we assess
- Sciatica and leg symptoms
- Neck-related arm symptoms
- Carpal tunnel syndrome (wrist and hand symptoms)
These are examples, not a diagnosis or a fixed treatment plan. We assess what is causing your symptoms, how they affect your life and what you want to regain. Your plan draws on current research, clinical judgement and your response to care.
Your assessment
Your physiotherapist will ask about your symptoms and health history and complete relevant physical tests. Depending on the findings, we may recommend assessment by another healthcare provider.
Your rehabilitation plan
Where physiotherapy is appropriate, the plan is tailored to the findings and your functional goals. New or rapidly worsening weakness or other sudden neurological changes need prompt medical attention.
Recovery goals that fit your life
Your goals might include moving comfortably, managing work tasks or understanding symptoms that travel into an arm or leg. We turn those priorities into a plan that fits your daily routine.
What to discuss at your first visit
Tell us where symptoms travel, when they occur and whether you have noticed changes in sensation or strength. Your comprehensive physical assessment includes treatment at the same visit.
How we review your progress
We review changes in symptoms and function, and discuss referral to another healthcare provider when assessment findings call for it. Follow-up visits give us time to review your response, answer questions and adjust your exercise and hands-on care.
