Start with the things you want to do again

Perhaps stairs have become difficult, a shoulder keeps you awake, or a tendon flares whenever you return to exercise. You do not need to know the diagnosis or which treatment to choose before coming in.

Your visit includes a comprehensive physical assessment with a physiotherapist. It includes treatment on the same day, selected according to your findings and preferences.

What we ask about

We begin with the story of your concern: when it started, what changes it, the activities affected and what you have already tried. Your medical history, medication and previous injuries help us understand the broader picture.

We also ask what a useful improvement would look like to you. Walking to the shops, working comfortably and getting back to a sport can require different plans—even when the symptoms sound similar.

What we assess

Your examination is tailored to your presentation. We may assess movement, strength, joint or muscle function, balance and tasks that reproduce your difficulty. We explain what we are checking and adapt the examination to your comfort.

If the findings suggest that another medical assessment or investigation is needed, we will discuss the appropriate next step. Physiotherapy starts with deciding what kind of care is suitable.

What you should understand before you leave

  • Our assessment of your concern and any uncertainty that remains.
  • The goals you and your physiotherapist are working toward.
  • Why the initial treatments or exercises have been selected.
  • What to do between visits and how to respond if symptoms change.
  • When to review your progress and whether follow-up is recommended.

Treatment begins at your first visit

Your first treatment may include guided movement, exercise, hands-on care, practical advice or appropriate technology. We explain the options and involve you in the choice. You can ask questions, decline a treatment or ask to change it.

Radial shockwave, focus shockwave and Class IV laser are included in your physiotherapy fee when appropriate, with no additional charge. Fees and insurance details.

How to prepare

Bring relevant reports, a medication list and your insurance information. Wear clothing that allows comfortable movement and access to the area being assessed. If you have had surgery, bring the procedure details and your surgeon’s rehabilitation instructions.

Your questions, answered

Do I need a referral?

You can book a physiotherapy assessment without a physician’s referral. Some insurers require one for reimbursement, so check your plan.

Do I need an X-ray or MRI first?

An imaging report is not required for every concern. Bring any reports you already have. Your physiotherapist can discuss whether additional medical assessment may be useful based on the findings.

What if I have dizziness or a neurological condition?

Call reception before booking so we can arrange an appropriate clinician and check whether our outpatient service fits your needs.
