We offer a variety of yoga and core classes. These classes are taught by certified instructors.
If you have a desire to improve your body's wellness, yoga is the perfect type of exercise to help you achieve a healthier body in a number of ways. Although it seems as though yoga is an activity that does not require much movement, it definitely requires strength, flexibility as well as concentration. As you practice yoga more, you will gradually increase the strength in many muscles of your body, and you will not only see progress in achieving wellness for your body, but you will also feel healthier.
Ask any yoga instructor, yoga can improve your mental state. Although yoga is a physical activity, it is as much about clearing your mind and focusing, as it is about improving yourself physically. Practicing yoga properly requires a tremendous amount of concentration. In this day in age, many people do not get the chance to quiet the distractions in their life and focus completely on improving their wellness. Practicing yoga can give people a chance to close off the rest of the world and center themselves, allowing them to come out feeling refreshed and ready to take on anything
Yoga isn't as hard on your body as other forms of exercise. Lifting weights and running are very popular forms of exercise, however, many people do not know that while they do provide many benefits, running and weight lifting can also damage your body because of their high impact nature. Yoga, on the other hand, offers a low impact form of exercise that can drastically improve your strength, flexibility, as well as your overall health.
Yoga is synergistic with the other treatments we offer at Progress Physiotherapy. If you are currently in treatment yoga can help you recover from your injury faster. Conversely, if you are not undergoing therapy, yoga can prevent common problems such as neck and low back pain.
Core stability relates to the bodily region bounded by the abdominal wall, the pelvis, the lower back and the diaphragm and its ability to stabilize the body during movement. Core stability is essential for the maintenance of an upright posture and especially for movements and lifts that require extra effort such as lifting a heavy weight from the ground to a table. Without core stability the lower back and limbs are not supported and can be injured by strain caused by the exercise. Therefore, insufficient core stability can result in a variety of injuries, especially low back conditions.
